PROPOSAL FOR PRIMARY TEACHERS SABBATICAL LEAVE, TERM 2, 2014.
PROFESSIONAL LEARNING ACTIVITY:
TO INVESTIGATE HOW I CAN ENHANCE MY OWN LEARNING AND UNDERSTANDING OF “THE DAILY 5” TO BECOME A MORE EFFECTIVE LITERACY TEACHING PRACTITIONER OF YR 7 & 8 STUDENTS AND ENSURE THE EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS PROGRAMME THROUGHOUT OUR SCHOOL.
PURPOSE FOR THE SABBATICAL:
1. TO BECOME AN EXPERT IN IMPLEMENTING “THE DAILY 5” STRUCTURE IN MY CLASSROOM AND SUPPORT OTHER TEACHERS WITHIN OUR SCHOOL AND THE WIDER SCHOOL COMMUNITY SO THAT WE ARE ABLE TO RAISE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT IN LITERACY.
2. TO HAVE TIME TO RESEARCH AND OBSERVE “THE DAILY 5” AND “CAFE” IN CLASSROOMS AND SCHOOLS WHERE IT IS BEING IMPLEMENTED.
3. TO ATTEND “THE DAILY 5” AND “CAFE” WORKSHOPS IN USA.
4. AS PART OF THE PROFESSIONAL LEARNING, I WOULD LIKE TO INVESTIGATE HOW THE SELF-MANAGEMENT AND CHOICES OF THE “DAILY 5” LITERACY STRUCTURE CAN BE USED TO ENHANCE THE LEARNING, INDEPENDENCE AND INCLUSIVENESS OF SPECIAL NEEDS STUDENTS, BOYS AND MAORI & PACIFICA STUDENTS.
